There are two words most people have asked at least once in their lives.
“Now what?”
These words usually show up when something significant has ended — but the next chapter has not yet fully formed.
We say “now what?” when the path ahead feels uncertain. When direction is needed after a milestone.
It’s another way of asking:
• What should I do next?
• What happens from here?
There is no shame in that because every real answer begins with an honest question.
Quite often, people ask “now what?” because they were so focused on achieving the goal that they never paused to think about what comes after it.
And this happens a lot after big achievements — including completing Reiki Master training.
Think about the moments in life when “now what?” appears:
“We graduated from school…”
Now what?
“I passed my driver’s test.”
Now what?
“I got the job or didn’t get the job.”
Now what?
“You’ve completed all levels of Reiki training. You are a Reiki Master!”
Now what?
“You have just completed the Licensed Reiki Master Teacher program through the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). You are fully Licensed.”
That’s a real milestone.
But still…
Now what?
When Lena and I completed the ICRT Licensed Reiki Master Teacher program, the feeling was not loud. It was steady. Grateful. Clear.
And the next question naturally came:
Now what?

This Is Where Reiki Becomes Practical
One of the benefits of Reiki practice is that we do not have to guess about our next steps. If you are a Reiki Level II practitioner or a Reiki Master, you already have the tools to access guidance.
Using your Level II symbols — along with your Master symbol, if applicable — is one way to explore the question:
What do I do after completing Reiki Training or any other grand achievement?
Here is a simple way to begin.
⸻
How to Use Reiki to Answer “Now What?”
Step 1
Close your eyes.
Take a few deep breaths.
Activate your Reiki.
Express gratitude for Reiki, for your training, and for the clarity that is coming.
Keep a notebook nearby. Write down what comes. Even small impressions matter.
Step 2
Activate your Master symbol (if applicable), along with the Distance symbol and the Mental & Emotional symbol.
Step 3
Imagine the Distance symbol extending from your heart like a bridge of light into the field of possibilities.
Ask the Mental & Emotional symbol to guide you toward clear and grounded direction.
If you practice Karuna Reiki®︎, you may invite Gnosa and Shanti as well.
Step 4
Let Reiki flow.
Notice ideas. Write them down. Do not judge them yet.
This is exploration.
Step 5
When you feel complete, return back fully into your body.
Again, give gratitude for the insights you have received, no matter how big or small.
⸻
But Reiki Alone Is Not the Final Answer
Clarity is important. Guidance is important.
But at some point, the question “now what?” must move into action.
For a New Reiki Master, that action might look like, but is not limited to:
• Teaching your first Reiki Level I & II class, if you feel called to teach.
• Offering sessions consistently
• Building relationships with practitioners and other practitioners of complementary skills.
• Continuing your own daily self-Reiki practice
• Staying connected to your teacher & community
• Showing up with integrity
Reiki Master certification (or any other achievement) is not the finish line.
It is responsibility.
It is service.
It is work.
⸻
The question “now what?” is not a problem.
It is a doorway.
But once you have explored the possibilities…
Once you have listened…
Once you have received guidance…
There is really only one answer.
Now we get up and we go to work.
Peace to you.
